Great Homes: The Jewel Box at 7857 Eads

Welcome to another edition of Inside The Great Homes of San Diego, presented by Willis Allen Real Estate.  Today we return to La Jolla for a fabulous property located in the heart of the village. Referred to as the “Jewel Box,” this three thousand square foot home features timeless Spanish architecture with a variety of cozy and romantic spaces tucked away on various levels.  Built in 1930, this home has been declared an historical landmark by the city of San Diego.

Inside the home, we are bathed in natural light that is accentuated by the light colored walls and the whites chosen for the furnishings and fabrics.  This light and airy atmosphere truly captures the beach feel, which is wonderful given that this home is located just a block from the ocean.  Note how the dark woods in the dining table, the ceiling beams and the floor work in contrast to the whites to lend a bit of drama to the space.

Here we see how glass extends from the floor to the ceiling and beyond to blend the outdoor and indoor spaces. The clean, light feeling extends into the completely remodeled kitchen, where the white cabinets and countertops work elegantly with the modern, professional appliances. Again, note just a few pops of dark wood are used as accents.

Headed to one of the outdoor entertaining areas, we are greeted by a magnificent fireplace and seating area, ideal for al fresco dining or gatherings of any kind. The azure pool and spa are jewels themselves that shine in this private, walled space. The gym is located next to the pool, but this space could easily be transformed into a cabana or even an office.

Upstairs in the bedroom areas, the white walls and fabric choices continue to work with dark hardwood floors.  Note how the mirrored wall opens the space even more and reflects the dramatic ocean views.
The property’s three full baths echo the white custom cabinetry and marble surfaces seen earlier in the kitchen. This home is luxurious in every way, even the vanity offers breathtaking La Jolla views. From yet another sitting area, you could sip a glass of wine and enjoy the amazing sunsets that become a private show for you in this La Jolla village jewel.

This beautiful property is presented by Ross Clark and Bianca Diaz Duffin for 4.4 million.  Tune in next time for another of the great homes of San Diego, presented by Willis Allen Real Estate.
