Milholland Solar & Electric’s Brian Milholland Wins California Small Business Person Of The Year
Recently, the Small Business Administration announced its honorees for the nation’s top small business owners, and selected Approved Home Pro and president of Milholland Solar & Electric Brian Milholland as the Small Business Person of the Year for the state of California.
“I couldn’t be any prouder than recognizing these outstanding entrepreneurs and small business owners,” said Maria Contreras-Sweet, the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, “They represent the backbone of our economy. Small businesses created nearly 2 million of the roughly 3 million private-sector jobs generated in 2014.”
California Small Business Person of the Year
Milholland, who began his electrician career while serving in the United States Army, recently celebrated 25 years as a small business owner. He successfully navigated Milholland Electric through the economic downturn and added solar, a burgeoning industry, to his portfolio. In doing so, Milholland Solar & Electric was born, and the company saw its revenue and workforce grow by more than 300%.
At The Approved Home Pro Show, we proudly recognize Milholland’s commitment to the San Diego community, including his efforts to bring solar power to low-income families through a partnership with Sungevity and Citizens Energy and his support and mentorship efforts with the not-for-profit Grid Alternatives Program, which provides solar power for low-income families while providing volunteers and job trainees with hands-on solar installation experience.
One winner was selected from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and a national winner will be formally recognized in Washington, D.C. on May 8, 2015.
