Clint and I enjoyed having Tiger Palafox from Mission Hills Nursery in the KOGO studio and San Diego Living on Channel 6 TV .

Tiger tells us that now is a great time to plant fall vegetables like lettuce, chard, kale, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower and winter tomatoes.

 Important Considerations:

  1. Make sure you amend your soil properly using organic materials.  If you have any question about the makeup of your soil, you can always bring a sample into Mission Hills Nursery to be analyzed.
  2. Forecasters are predicting an unusually heavy rainy season in San Diego County. For protection, you may want to elevate your planter bed.
  3. Make sure you have proper drainage to avoid ponding or flooding of your garden.

Mission Hills Nursery is a great resource to learn about planting and caring for edibles.  Growing fruits and vegetables is a great hobby and also a fun way to teach your children about gardening.  It is nice to enjoy the fruits and vegetables from your harvest too!
