There are many benefits of maintaining a good roof over your head including protection from rain, energy efficiency, fire protection and adding curb appeal to your home.
For some, a roof does not need to be an architectural statement, just a dependable protection. In that case, composite singles are a great option. If having a more custom look is important to you, concrete tile or clay tile roofing both come in many colors and blends.
When choosing a roof, keep in mind that lighter colors are more energy efficient because they reflect the sun better and do not heat up your attic. Adding insulation and attic fans or turbines is another economical way to improve efficiency. If you are planning on installing solar, I recommend doing it at the same time as you re-roof, especially if you have tile. There some tax incentives and great financing for energy efficient roofs, too.
Believe it or not, there are still thousands of wood shake roofs in San Diego County – and those are a major fire hazard. Replacing shake roofs with composition shingles can lower your home owner’s insurance and pay for themselves over time.
Whatever roof style you have, I recommend hiring a qualified, licensed and insured roofer that stands behind their work with an excellent warranty like our Approved Home Pro Show roofers.
