Maximize Energy Efficiency to Save Money
Did you know that properly sizing the heating and air conditioning equipment for your home can save you significantly on your energy bills? If your system is too small it will run longer, using more gas and electricity. Your furnace and air conditioning condenser can equate to as much as 55% of your monthly energy bill on average, so investing in a new system could actually save you money.
If your system is newer not ready for replacement, it is important to keep up on service to achieve high efficiency and longer life. I recommend replacing air filters every 3 months depending on usage and an annual inspection from a qualified heating and air conditioning contractor.
As energy rates continue to rise, it’s even more important to have the high-efficiency equipment. If your HVAC system is more than 6 years old, an upgrade can substantially lower your power bill, but will also reduce the number of panels needed if you add solar. You may also want to consider adding insulation and replacing windows if they have metal frames or single panes to better maintain a comfortable temperature in your home. Adding solar to top off an efficient home will help you maximize energy efficiency to save money.
