Clint and I enjoyed having Tiger Palafox from Mission Hills Nursery in the KOGO studio and San Diego Living on Channel 6 TV .
Tiger tells us that now is a great time to plant fall vegetables like lettuce, chard, kale, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower and winter tomatoes.
- Make sure you amend your soil properly using organic materials. If you have any question about the makeup of your soil, you can always bring a sample into Mission Hills Nursery to be analyzed.
- Forecasters are predicting an unusually heavy rainy season in San Diego County. For protection, you may want to elevate your planter bed.
- Make sure you have proper drainage to avoid ponding or flooding of your garden.
Mission Hills Nursery is a great resource to learn about planting and caring for edibles. Growing fruits and vegetables is a great hobby and also a fun way to teach your children about gardening. It is nice to enjoy the fruits and vegetables from your harvest too!
