This is an example of a whole home remodel. It was a split level house with an 8-foot ceiling. As you can see from the “before” photo, it’s very dated. From an architectural, structural, functional and cost of construction aspect, it was better to demolish and re-build than consider any combination of upgrades. By choosing to completely rebuild, this homeowner will reap many benefits, including energy efficient materials, a grander entrance, maximized views, an opened-up floor plan, vaulted ceilings, a deck with outside stair-case access to the backyard and a more functional garage.
