Details on ‘LED Lighting’
[Gregg Cantor] In new construction and remodeling, LED lighting has been the replacement for old fashioned incandescent fixtures for a long time. Not only do LED’s meet Title 24 energy requirements, they last up to 20 years with no maintenance necessary and they emit much less heat making your home cooler in the summer. Recent studies have posed concerns that LED lighting can eye damage and even disrupt circadian rhythms which affect sleep. There are so many good reasons to use LED lighting because of energy savings, the superior light quality and lifespan, but is it safe in your home? The answer is yes! Just make sure you follow this advice. Kelvins are the measurement of color in LED’s. I recommend LED’s that are 3,000 Kelvins or less which is comparable to standard halogen or incandescent lights. At this safe range, you can choose soft white or warm white colors and avoid blue where there may be potential risks.
